About Whitney
Whitney Johnson considers herself a Southern Belle with Virginia talent and a New York hustle, who drives culture and impact simultaneously through the power of media and marketing. She currently leads brand partnership campaigns at Essence Ventures (the home of ESSENCE Magazine, Essence Festival of Culture, AFROPUNK and more). She is also the founder and owner of Thee StoryHouse, which is a creative agency that leverages digital platforms to deliver life-changing messages to the world.
After graduating from Hampton University with a degree in Communications and a minor in Leadership Studies, Whitney launched her career in New York City at one of the world's top public relations agencies, where she supported corporations such as Bank of America, Chipotle, Comcast and Ford. She then went on to lend her expertise as a digital marketing and PR consultant to major brands including, but not limited to, NBCUniversal, E! Entertainment, Cantu Beauty, Black Radiance and FCBCNYC.
Through her work, Whitney has played a role in curating unforgettable brand experiences at major events like Essence Festival in New Orleans, CurlFest in Brooklyn, NY and New York Fashion Week. She has also secured media opportunities for clients in top-tier publications including Forbes, Oprah Magazine, Beyonce.com, EBONY Magazine, Seventeen Magazine, Complex Magazine, Martha Stewart and TravelNoire. Among her most significant honors, Whitney has been recognized as a Hampton University Rising Star and an Impact Fund Grant Recipient of Beyoncé Knowles-Carter’s public charity foundation, BeyGOOD.
Whitney believes that media and marketing have the power to shape the world, and she aims to ignite true impact across many aspects of culture. Whether it’s through music, fashion, sports or entertainment, she is committed to partnering with purpose-driven brands that have a desire to impact the world in creative ways, with hopes of making it a better place.
Whitney is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She also serves as an Advisory Board Member for a national non-profit, Justice for Black Girls, and a devoted mentor with the Black Girls in Media networking organization. She is an award-winning on-screen talent and the host of her upcoming digital show - StoryHouse Convos.
